On Wednesday, September 16, the CAC Wall Panels team attended BCMC 2026 in Columbus, Ohio, and it was a great day. We said in August that we planned to be there, and we wanted to follow up with a look at what we saw and what we're taking home.

BCMC, the Building Component Manufacturers Conference presented by SBCA, brings component manufacturers, suppliers, equipment makers, and software providers together for a day of learning and relationship building. CAC Wall Panels attended to reconnect with partners, meet new people in the industry, and look for better ways to serve our customers with wall panels, trusses, and stairs.

The People on the Show Floor

The first thing that stands out at BCMC is the people. This industry is full of outstanding individuals and companies, and the kindness, knowledge, and willingness to share ideas between trade partners and fellow manufacturers is something we truly appreciate. Walking the aisles, it was easy to strike up a conversation and come away having learned something.

BCMC also showcases the entire process a component manufacturer handles, from estimating a project and engineering components to manufacturing, delivery, and jobsite execution. Seeing every step in one room gives you countless ideas for serving customers at a higher level.

Technology That Moves the Industry Forward

One of the highlights of BCMC is seeing the latest technology, equipment, software, and innovations in person. Automated jigging systems, layout tools, and new production equipment were on display throughout the hall. It's exciting to find new ways to improve efficiency inside our own operation, and just as exciting when those improvements help our customers become more successful and efficient too.

BCMC was also a chance to spend time with the partners who support us every day. We appreciate our relationships with Eagle Metal Products, Simpson Strong-Tie, Olympic Industries, Interfor, and the many other suppliers and industry leaders who help us deliver quality products and service to our customers.

From the Plant to the Jobsite

A large part of the hall focused on what happens after a component is built, with roller conveyors, forklifts, and extendable flatbed trailers made for hauling trusses and wall panels. Since we run our own trucking, this part of the show matters to us. How components are loaded, strapped, and delivered has a direct effect on how smoothly a project goes once it reaches the jobsite.

Building Relationships Across the Industry

Another great part of the conference was building new relationships and reconnecting with familiar faces. Some of the people we talked with could be considered competitors, yet BCMC is a good reminder that we're all working toward the same goal of building better, safer, and more efficient structures for our customers. The education sessions, including the Framer Summit at BCMC, gave everyone a shared place to learn from one another.

What We're Bringing Home

We came back to Harlan and Butler encouraged, challenged, and excited about the future. Quality, communication, and teamwork continue to drive us as we look for new ways to better serve the developers, general contractors, and builders who count on us.

Thank you to SBCA and everyone who made this year's event such a success, and to everyone who took the time to talk with us. If we met in Columbus and you'd like to keep the conversation going, reach out to our team.

God bless!
